Arlon Hall

Arlon studied Visual art at South Australian School of Art, completed honours in 2011. His recent work explores the relationship between painting and drawing. Focusing on the formal elements of both disciplines has allowed notions of contemporary popular culture to enter the work. In a reaction against direct appropriation, recognisable symbols and imagery have been crossed out and replaced with my own visual language. As an attempt to reiterate the entanglement of painting and drawing, conventions have been experimented with and have been translated through unstable landscapes of colour and line.
